Gastric pentadecapeptide BPC 157 accelerates healing of transected rat Achilles tendon and in vitro stimulates tendocytes growth
Staresinic M, Sebecic B, Patrlj L, et al. Journal of Orthopaedic Research 2003;21:976-983.
What it found
After the Achilles tendon was cut, treated rats did better than saline controls on tendon strength, walking function, tissue appearance and defect size. In cell culture it did not speed up tendon cell growth on its own, but it reversed the growth block caused by an oxidative toxin.
Limitations
Rats only. From the Zagreb research group, which has produced most of the BPC-157 literature.
