Of 36 studies, 35 were preclinical and one was in humans. Animal models showed better healing of muscle, tendon, ligament and bone, but there were no clinical safety data. The authors warn about the risks of unregulated products.
Limitations
All the evidence reviewed is low level (animal studies and an uncontrolled human report).
