Ipamorelin, a new growth-hormone-releasing peptide, induces longitudinal bone growth in rats
Johansen PB, Nowak J, Skjaerbaek C, et al. Growth Hormone & IGF Research 1999;9:106-113.
What it found
Shin bone growth rate rose with dose, from 42 µm/day with vehicle to 44, 50 and 52 µm/day. Body weight gain also rose with dose. Total IGF-1, IGF-binding proteins and bone turnover markers did not change.
Limitations
Adult female rats, short study. The pituitary growth hormone response to a test dose was slightly reduced after treatment.
