Pharmacokinetic-pharmacodynamic modeling of ipamorelin, a growth hormone releasing peptide, in human volunteers
Gobburu JV, Agersø H, Jusko WJ, et al. Pharmaceutical Research 1999;16:1412-1416.
What it found
Exposure rose in proportion to dose, with a terminal half-life of about 2 hours. Each dose produced a single growth hormone pulse peaking at about 0.67 hours, then falling to negligible levels. Response varied more between people than drug levels did.
Limitations
Healthy men only, single doses, intravenous route. Designed to model drug levels, not to test benefit or long-term safety. Total n is calculated from 8 men at each of 5 dose levels. The abstract does not say whether a placebo or blinding was used.
