Animal study

Ipamorelin, the first selective growth hormone secretagogue

Raun K, Hansen BS, Johansen NL, et al. European Journal of Endocrinology 1998;139:552-561.

What it found

Ipamorelin released growth hormone with potency and efficacy similar to GHRP-6, through the GHRP receptor. In pigs it did not change FSH, LH, prolactin or TSH, and unlike GHRP-6 and GHRP-2 it did not raise ACTH or cortisol above the levels seen with GHRH.

Limitations

Rat cells, rats and pigs only; acute single-dose experiments. Selectivity was not tested in humans here.
