Semax and Pro-Gly-Pro activate the transcription of neurotrophins and their receptor genes after cerebral ischemia

Dmitrieva VG, Povarova OV, Skvortsova VI, et al. Cellular and Molecular Neurobiology 2010;30:71-79.

What it found

After permanent blockage of a brain artery, Semax increased transcription of BDNF, NT-3, NGF and their receptors (TrkA, TrkC) in the damaged cortex at different time points. Its Pro-Gly-Pro tail alone had less specific effects.
