Synthesis and characterization of the N-terminal acetylated 17-23 fragment of thymosin beta 4 identified in TB-500, a product suspected to possess doping potential
Esposito S, Deventer K, Goeman J, et al. Drug Testing and Analysis 2012;4:733-738.
What it found
Using mass spectrometry, an anti-doping lab identified the acetylated 17-23 fragment of thymosin beta-4 (Ac-LKKTETQ) in a product sold as TB-500, synthesised the fragment as a reference, and proposed a way to detect it in blood and urine.
Limitations
Analytical chemistry study of one product. It says what was in that product, not whether it has any biological effect.
