Animal study

Thymosin beta 4 and a synthetic peptide containing its actin-binding domain promote dermal wound repair in db/db diabetic mice and in aged mice

Philp D, Badamchian M, Scheremeta B, et al. Wound Repair and Regeneration 2003;11:19-24.

What it found

Full thymosin beta-4 improved wound contraction and collagen in diabetic mice and sped healing in 26-month-old mice. The seven-amino-acid fragment LKKTETQ gave comparable repair in the aged mice. Normal rats were also tested with full Tβ4.

Limitations

Animals only. The fragment was tested only in aged mice, and the abstract does not say whether it carried the acetyl group found in TB-500 products. From the same NIH group as Malinda 1999.
