Safety and metabolic effects of tesamorelin, a growth hormone-releasing factor analogue, in patients with type 2 diabetes: A randomized, placebo-controlled trial
Clemmons DR, Miller S, Mamputu JC PLOS ONE 2017;12:e0179538.
What it found
No significant differences in insulin response to a glucose drink, fasting glucose, HbA1c or overall diabetes control. Total and non-HDL cholesterol fell with 2 mg. No one stopped because of loss of diabetes control.
Limitations
Small and short. People with type 2 diabetes without HIV; designed to check glucose safety, not benefit.
