What it found
Two thymosin arms had 10 and 12 tumour responses versus 4 in the control group. Median overall survival was 9.4 versus 6.6 months (hazard ratio 0.80, P = 0.08) and progression-free survival showed a similar non-significant trend. No added toxicity.
Limitations
Survival differences did not reach statistical significance. The chemotherapy regimen used predates modern immunotherapy for melanoma.
