Human growth hormone-releasing factor (hGRF)1-29-albumin bioconjugates activate the GRF receptor on the anterior pituitary in rats: identification of CJC-1295 as a long-lasting GRF analog

Jetté L, Léger R, Thibaudeau K, et al. Endocrinology 2005;146:3052-3058.

What it found

Three albumin-binding versions of GRF (1-29) were made. CJC-1295, a tetrasubstituted GRF (1-29) with an added lysine carrying a maleimide group (the albumin-binding version), gave a 4-fold larger growth hormone response over 2 hours than GRF (1-29) and was still present in plasma beyond 72 hours, bound to albumin.

Limitations

Rats and rat cells only. This is the DAC version; it does not describe the short-acting version without DAC.
