Epitalon increases telomere length in human cell lines through telomerase upregulation or ALT activity

What it found
An independent UK group. Epitalon lengthened telomeres in normal cells by raising telomerase. In two breast cancer cell lines it also lengthened telomeres, mainly through a different route (ALT, alternative lengthening of telomeres).
Limitations
Cell lines only. The finding that telomeres also lengthened in cancer cells is relevant to safety. A correction to the paper was published in November 2025.
