Growth-modulating plasma tripeptide may function by facilitating copper uptake into cells

Pickart L, Freedman JH, Loker WJ, et al. Nature 1980;288:715-717.

What it found

The plasma tripeptide (glycyl-histidyl-lysine) co-purified with copper, readily formed copper complexes, and increased copper uptake into cultured liver cancer (hepatoma) cells. The authors proposed that it acts as a copper transport factor.
