Enhanced healing of ulcers in patients with diabetes by topical treatment with glycyl-l-histidyl-l-lysine copper
Mulder GD, Patt LM, Sanders L, et al. Wound Repair and Regeneration 1994;2:259-269.
What it found
Plantar ulcers treated with the GHK-Cu gel reached a median 98.5% closure vs 60.8% with vehicle, and closed about three times faster. Infection rates were lower (7% vs 34%). The effect was larger in ulcers over 100 mm2.
Limitations
Topical use on wounds, not injection. Number of patients not given in the abstract. Results depended on starting right after debridement. An older trial that we could not find independently repeated.
