Detection of His-tagged Long-R³-IGF-I in a black market product

Kohler M, Thomas A, Walpurgis K, et al. Growth Hormone & IGF Research 2010;20:386-390.

What it found

A doping control lab identified Long R3 IGF-1 with a His6 purification tag still attached in an injection vial. Such tags are normally used during laboratory production; the authors suggest the product may have been a by-product of biochemical research rather than made for injection.

Limitations

Case report of a single product. The effects of the tagged form in humans have not been described.
