What it found
Blood MOTS-c was lower in older men, but muscle MOTS-c was about 1.5 times higher in middle-aged and older men than in young men, in line with a shift toward slow-type muscle fibres.
Limitations
Men only, cross-sectional. Blood and muscle levels moved in opposite directions, so blood levels alone are hard to interpret.
