A Pilot Study Investigating Changes in the Human Plasma and Urine NAD+ Metabolome During a 6 Hour Intravenous Infusion of NAD
Grant R, Berg J, Mestayer R, et al. Frontiers in Aging Neuroscience 2019;11:257.
What it found
NAD+ itself. For the first 2 hours, blood NAD+ and its breakdown products did not rise at all: infused NAD+ was cleared from the blood quickly. Levels rose only later, and NAD+ and methylnicotinamide appeared in urine. No adverse events were observed.
Limitations
Very small pilot (8 men on NAD+, 3 on saline), healthy men aged 30 to 55 only, single infusion. Measured blood and urine levels, not any health outcome.
