Intravenous infusion of nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD(+)) versus nicotinamide riboside (NR): a retrospective tolerability pilot study in a real-world setting
Reyna K, Heinzen G, Patel N, et al. Frontiers in Aging 2026;7:1652582.
What it found
NAD+ itself compared with a precursor. Everyone given IV NAD+ (6 people) reported moderate to severe gut symptoms (cramping, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea), faster heart rate or chest pressure during infusions, which had to run longer (about 97 vs 37 minutes). IV NR caused milder tingling and cramping. Symptoms stopped when infusions ended; liver, kidney and thyroid tests did not change.
Limitations
Retrospective chart review from a commercial clinic, tiny groups, no placebo, short follow-up.
