Usefulness of ambulatory blood pressure monitoring to assess the melanocortin receptor agonist bremelanotide
White WB, Myers MG, Jordan R, et al. Journal of Hypertension 2017;35:761-768.
What it found
Compared with placebo, systolic blood pressure rose by about 2.4 to 3.0 mmHg in the 4 hours after dosing, with similar rises in diastolic pressure and falls in heart rate. Peak rises usually lasted less than 15 minutes.
Limitations
Premenopausal women with normal or controlled blood pressure; effects in people with uncontrolled hypertension or heart disease were not studied. Two co-authors were from the developer.
