Long-Term Safety and Efficacy of Bremelanotide for Hypoactive Sexual Desire Disorder
Simon JA, Kingsberg SA, Portman D, et al. Obstetrics & Gynecology 2019;134:909-917.
What it found
Of 856 eligible women, 684 entered the extension and 272 completed it. The most common drug-related side effects were nausea (40.4%), flushing (20.6%) and headache (12.0%). No new safety signals were reported, and desire and distress scores stayed improved in women who continued.
Limitations
No placebo group and all analyses descriptive. Fewer than half of those who entered completed it, so results describe women who tolerated and chose to continue the drug.
