Mitochondrial-targeted peptide rapidly improves mitochondrial energetics and skeletal muscle performance in aged mice

Siegel MP, Kruse SE, Percival JM, et al. Aging Cell 2013;12:763-771.

What it found

One hour after a single injection, muscle energy production in old mice rose to levels seen in young mice, with no effect in young mice. Old muscle was more fatigue resistant, and 8 days of treatment improved whole-body endurance.

Limitations

Mice only, short duration.
