Randomised controlled trial

EMBRACE STEMI study: a Phase 2a trial to evaluate the safety, tolerability, and efficacy of intravenous MTP-131 on reperfusion injury in patients undergoing primary percutaneous coronary intervention

Gibson CM, Giugliano RP, Kloner RA, et al. European Heart Journal 2016;37:1296-1303.

What it found

In people having a first anterior heart attack treated with stenting, the drug (then called MTP-131) did not reduce heart muscle damage compared with placebo, and imaging and clinical outcomes did not improve. It was well tolerated.

Limitations
