A randomized crossover trial of elamipretide in adults with primary mitochondrial myopathy
Karaa A, Haas R, Goldstein A, et al. Journal of Cachexia, Sarcopenia and Muscle 2020;11:909-918.
What it found
The difference in 6-minute walk distance (19.8 m) was not statistically significant. Patient-reported fatigue scores favoured elamipretide. Injection-site reactions occurred in 80%, mostly mild; no serious adverse events.
Limitations
Short, small crossover. The main goal was missed; the positive findings were secondary and self-reported.
