What it found
Missed both main goals (low-light visual acuity and growth of the atrophic area). Some secondary retinal imaging measures and the share of people gaining 10 or more letters favoured elamipretide. Adverse events occurred in 86% vs 71% on placebo, mostly injection-site reactions.
Limitations
Primary endpoints not met; the positive findings are secondary, with nominal p-values.
